Pyrus communis ‘Red Clapp’s Favorite’
Also called ‘Red Kalle’. This large pear from Michigan is exceptionally beautiful, with amazing reddish/purple fruits that hang like jewels from the tree. The fruit is sweet and flavorful.
It thrives in the Pacific Northwest and in much of the nation – and shows some resistance to cedar trellis rust. It ripens midseason, in September here in the PNW. It blooms late, category 3, and is a good pollinizer.
